Blackjack for the BeginnerThis is a featured page

Blackjack is one of the most well-known and exciting games in any casino. Luckily, it is also one of the easiest to learn.
The objective of blackjack is to beat the dealer by being the closest to 21 without going over. The cards 2 through 10 are counted at face value. Jacks, queens, and kings, are also worth 10. Aces can take a value of 1 or 11 depending on which is more favorable.

During the deal, each player will receive two cards dealt face up. The dealer will receive two cards, but only one will be shown. At this point several options exists, but there are two important actions for a beginner - hit or stand.

When a player hits, he will receive one additional card giving a new count total. To stand means the player chooses to receive no more cards. A player may hit as many times as he chooses, however, exceeding a count of 21 will "bust" the player, and his hand is lost regardless of the dealer's hand.

After all players have finalized their hands, the dealer shows his second hard. Each casino is different, but in general, dealers will hit until they reach a count of 16 or above. If a player ties with the dealer, it is considered a push, and the bet is returned.
